TIL Immediately Invoked Function Expression

This is a design pattern where you create a function expression that is immediately executed.

(function () {
    const jedi = "Qui-gon Jinn";
    console.log(jedi);
})();

// immediately fires Qui-gon Jinn
// note: jedi is not referencable
